As the game kicked off, it was a particularly cold and blustery morning, and although there had been heavy rain overnight, the pitch was perfectly playable.

Dyce very quickly settled into their stride, pinning Portlethan back in their own half from the very start. The game was only minutes old when Grant fired home after beating two Portlethen players on the edge of the box. The game had hardly restarted when Grant had made it two-nil with an almost identical goal.

There was no letting up, as Dyce continued to force the play with great passing movements down both wings. Liam fired Dyce 3 up five minutes later with a close-in finish and then Connor made it 4 soon after. The best goal of the game followed with Liam finishing well, after a wonderful crossfield pass from Connor.

Half time Portlethen 0 Dyce BC 5

Changing ends at half time meant that we were now playing downwind and this made it difficult to adjust to the different speed of the game. Substitutions had been made throughout the game at regular intervals to prevent the kids from getting cold, and it was Josh who popped up to make it 6, ten minutes into the second half after Martin and Connor had worked an opening up the left. Adam soon made it seven nil after a powerful run from central midfield and Liam finished off the scoring, and his hat-trick with a great left foot strike with only a few minutes left.

Portlethen had their moments throughout the game without really looking like beating Jason in the Dyce goal, with Adam, Joey and Kevin Reid in particularly looking very solid in front of him.

A good performance on a terrible day
