Dyce started to the game brightly despite the difficult overhead conditions and were reward with their superiority of the play by two early goals. The goals settled the team well and allowed Dyce to keep up the pressure on a resilient Fernhill defence who stuck to their tasks well. The constant pressure was soon rewarded with some good combination play which added to the tally to allow a six goal cushion at half time.

The second half started brightly with Dyce taking advantage of the wind conditions to spread the play which allowed both sets of midfield players to exploit the now open spaces that were developing as play continued. The enthusiasm of the players was a contributory factor in further chances being created that resulted in further goals being scored during the second half.
