at Pitmedden Road We started todays game very strongly, and for the first 10 minutes Fraserburgh found it difficult to get out of their half. We created some good chances, but a combination of good goal keeping and poor finishing keptthe score at 0-0. We finally got the breakthrough in 15 minutes when some good passing saw Mathew Melvin show good body strength to hold off a defender and finish with a powerful shot under the diving goalkeeper. Fraserburgh were starting to come more into the game and they were unlucky on more than one occasion not to equalise. Our second goal came from a 'solo' run by SHAUN LAIRD, who beat 3 defenders and fired the ball into the net . Again Fraserburgh attacked us, but Adam Morrison was having an excellent game and cleared up any danger. Just on half time a through ball was collected by a Fraserburgh forward, and he turned and hit a terrific shot high into the net to pull a goal back. HT 2-1 Within 2 minutes of the re-start Fraserburgh were level. Again it was a good shot from distance which went flying past the unfortunate Murray Kinnaird in goal, who stood no chance of saving it. Cameron Gray was having an excellent game on the right, and he twisted and turned past the Fraserburgh defenders only to see his lob come crashing off the bar. We camped ourselves in the opposition half for the remainder of the match, and despite some excellent chances being created, the Fraserburgh goal led a charmed life. The game ended 2-2, and while we were disappointed not to have won, there were plenty of pleasing aspects to take from the game. All the players played their part in an exciting game. The boys have all grown over the summer period, and the tight confines of the small pitch hamper our football. We have to live with this for the first part of the season, and hopefully the boys will not get too frustrated, and learn to move tha ball quickly as their time on the ball is limited on the small area.
