Fraserburgh

A League

Despite the heavy rain that was experienced during the week the pitch at Fraserburgh was passed playable although its nickname of "The Himalayas" was evident.
Both teams started off positively, but the first breakthrough came when Fraserburgh took the lead after an early ball caught out the Dyce defence and  the Broch forward pounced to score. Dyce gradually came back into the game and when a cross by Jonathon Stalker was headed on by Ross Andrew, Stuart Lornie shot just wide. Jake Strachan was unlucky when he headed over from a flighted free kick by Stephen Jeffrey. Another free kick this time taken by Kevin Henry led to a header by Steven Whyte which was well saved by the ex Dyce and Aberdeen keeper "Gizzy". The equaliser came when a lovely through ball by Stuart Lornie led to Allen Padua scoring with a low driven shot. Dyce were beginning to win the midfield battle with Allen Padua and Kevin Henry in particular showing their strength and skill. A corner from Stevie Whyte saw Stevie Jeffrey putting Dyce in front with a well placed header. Minutes later Simon Leslie was unlucky when he spotted the Fraserburgh keeper off his line but his long range shot went just over. Ross Andrew who was working tirelessly up front on the heavy pitch saw his shot go wide after he had beat the Fraserburgh defence to a through ball and rounded the keeper. Dyce's defence was looking solid with Jonathon Stalker, Stephen Jeffrey, Scott Brown and also Simon Mathers when he came on stopping any effort by Fraserburgh to get back into the game.

                                                 half-time   2 - 1

The game was all but over when Dennis Ewing in the Dyce goal hit a long clearance which beat the defence for Ross Duncan to score with a delicate lob over the onrushing keeper. Allen Padua then came close when only a last ditch tackle prevented his goal bound shot extending the lead. Stephen Jeffrey who was playing a blinder got his second and Dyce's fourth when a corner was flicked on by Jake Strachan to allow Jaffa to finish off with a close range header. Jonathon Stalker then went on a mazy run from his own half and was only stopped when he was taken down on the edge of the box. Stevie Inglis took the resulting free kick but his shot was well blocked by the Fraserburgh defence.

                                                 Full - time 4 - 1

A good result against a side who look capable of taking points from most teams. The team worked hard and coped with the pitch well with some excellent displays.
Well done, now on to the Scottish Cup against a team, Syngenta who come up to Aberdeen with a good reputation.
