One small step for Mankind - one giant leap for Eric!!

To the west of Fort William at Acharacle stands the imposing Ardnamurchan Lighthouse. On the 9th August 2008 one man, armed only with a moustache, will attempt to abseil this extremely tall structure in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support -  Eric Mannall, whose definition of adrenaline junkie is leaving the Butchers Arms thirty minutes early, will defy his overpowering fear of acrophobia, face his demons and step over the edge. When asked, why an abseil? Eric said," It's those Cromar's..... they've been pushing me over the edge for years!"

Macmillan Cancer Support provides practical, medical and emotional support for patients, family and friends who fall victim and are affected by the terrible and frightening disease that is cancer.

Eric needs your support as he literally 'goes over the edge' in helping to push for better cancer care.

You can sponsor Eric by making a pledge directly to him on 01224 770038 or on-line via his just giving account at www.justgiving.com/ericmannallardnamurchanabseil Donating via the just giving website is fast and totally secure.

Thanks to all who have already offered their support.

Club Award Winners

Details of the winners of the awards for each age group will soon appear on the website. Boys from each age group are nominated for the Alan Thoars Trophy, the eventual recipient being chosen by the Committee. This year's winner, for outstanding achievement, is Andy MacAskill from the Under 16s. Andy has been with the Club since the Under 8s, winning several awards through the years. His contribution each year has been of a consistently high standard. A truly worthy and well respected recipient. Our congratulations and best wishes as his football career progresses. Inverness Caledonian Thistle Youth Awards 2008

With over 150 people in attendance, Inverness Caledonian Thistle presented their Youth awards for 2008 at a presentation dinner at the Tulloch Stadium. Three ex Dyce boys - in their first season with the senior club - are to be congratulated for being recognised with awards. Graeme Shinnie collected the coaching staff player of the year for U17's, Kevin Adams won the coaching staff merit award for U17's and Shaun Carroll and Graeme Shinnie were both selected for the team of the year - picked from all age groups by all the coaches. Many congratulations from everyone at Dyce. We are delighted for Shaun, Graeme and Kevin and we wish them continued success!

Marden Bridge Middle School

On Saturday 24th May Dyce welcomed Marden Bridge Middle School from Whitley Bay on their annual football tour to Aberdeen. Dyce Boys Club’s first game against Marden Bridge was way back in 1988 and it’s great to see Marden Bridge team manager Paul Phillips still taking his team up here 20 years later. For a match report and some photos click here.

13's SFA Regional Squad

With only one league game left, the 13s will be looking forward to a lazy summer, helping with household chores, keeping their rooms tidy ... (aye, right!)... But for 5 of the boys, having successfully come through the trials and made it into the Regional Squad, the training sessions will continue, leading to a Football Festival 28/29 July. There they will play against the other 5 regions. So congratulations to Stuart Close, Robbie Collinson, Craig MacAskill, Grant Thomson and Calum Wilson. The bad news... you still have to keep your rooms tidy. Well done, boys! See the boys in their kit! 1  2

Ghana

During my recent trip to Ghana, I watched a juvenile match between two village teams (14's). The skill levels were good, but as you will see from the attached pictures, the pitch was like playing in the field behind Pitmedden, and their equipment was basic to non existent. I have suggested to Eric to ask if Dyce BC would be prepared to donate ANYTHING as these kids have nothing. Please remember this is an organised official juvenile game.  See the pics, click the links. Ghana 1     2       3       4        5       6
