Everyone at Dyce Boys Club would like to wish everyone a Happy New Year and all the best for 2012. Also we would like to say a big thank you to all who made the running of the teams possible in 2011, from the sponsors, to kit washers, to parents, grandparents and the boys themselves and hope you'll continue to support us through the new year and beyond.

GOAL-DEN
OLDIES
No doubt the big news amongst our old boys this week is the signing of Russell Anderson by Aberdeen FC. Russell returns to the club he served so well for 10 years before trying his luck down south. Unfortunately this coincided with a run of injuries that would have put lesser men out of the game but Russell continues his battle for fitness and has already accepted the captaincy at Pittodrie. Of course Russell won many honours whilst with Dyce BC and was a part of the 1994/95 Under 16 team who had a clean sweep of trophies in Season 1994/95, not only winning all the local trophies but the Scottish Cup as well. (Check out the archive section for the team photo and see if there are any other current Scottish Premier League players in the picture.) Great to see you back at Pittodrie, Russell and we wish you all the very best and an injury free future. |

Jack Grimmer The best wishes of all at Dyce Boys Club go to our former player, Jack Grimmer who has negotiated a three and a half year contract with Fulham FC of the English Premiership. Jack agonised over his decision but had enough belief in himself to feel he will play for the first team in the period of his contract. He has the honour of being the youngest ever first team player at Aberdeen FC. making his debut against the mighty Rangers at Ibrox Stadium. "It was a hard choice for me and at one point I wasn't exactly sure but Fulham were brilliant with me and I soon knew what I wanted to do." Jack has now made his move and is a Fulham player, having spoken to Martin Jol, Fulham's Manager. He is well aware of the magnitude of his move, leaving his family but being a self assured lad there are no doubts he will make it. JACK WE WISH YOU ALL THE BEST AND WILL BE FOLLOWING YOUR CAREER CLOSELY - ALL THE BEST FROM US ALL AT DYCE BC British Airport Authorities Communities Trust A big thank you is due to the above who decided to back our Individual skills development programme. This is the programme that all the boys playing non competitive football will follow. Player development is now key to the progression of each boy. There has been a lack of skill development due mainly to the fact that youngsters do not spend so many hours practising which has led to a detrimental effect on the game of football. Our skills programme has been designed to educate players and to encourage creativity so the boys are comfortable in possession of the ball which gives them an added confidence. If we can develop the boys and offer a correct player pathway the the whole of Dyce Boys Club will flourish. The grateful thanks of Dyce Boys Club go to the trust and in particular to Sarah Campbell at Aberdeen Airport for her help SFA Quality Mark Hopefully notice has been taken of a second award received from the SFA in the form of the Development Charter Mark. This is the second of three awards open to the club and once again a huge vote of thanks go to our trusty Secretary for driving the Club to this latest award. I am sure George Anderson could have seen this award far enough at times but his dogged determination assured the club would receive this further SFA recognition. Mind you even George may admit defeat in the completion of the third and final test i.e. - the Community Award. Not only does the club have to have a player pathway into adult football, there has also to be a link with football played by the fairer sex! Back to the Development award though and it shows the club is on a good footing and is recognised as one of the leading clubs in Scotland. Well done again George. Norkram Limited A big thank you is also due to Norkram Ltd and in particular to Roy Strathdee of the Company for sponsoring training tops to be worn by our Under 14 team. We are most grateful to Norkram for their very generous donation. Non-competitive Teams Photograph Session The club recently held a session where the non-competitive teams and individual players where professionally photographed by First Photographics. This session was very successful and photo’s were available for purchase at the recent non-competitive trophy presentation. For those of you who weren’t able to purchase photos so far they are available from:- http://www.firstphotographics.co.uk/ Click on “Your Photo’s” and then type in “dycefc” to view the gallery. Simple on-line purchase details are there for you to use to make your purchase and arrange delivery. 2012 Golf Day The club is proposing to hold a Golf Day during either May or June 2012. The event will be open to all sponsors, coaches, parents, ex-players, etc, of all golfing abilities. The venue is currently being investigated and further details will be released early in the New Year. In the meantime we would like to gauge interest in this event. If you are interested in taking part and having a great day out then please contact kevin@dyceboysclub.com Another Congratulations Nine of the boys from the under 15s team have been selected for trials for the North of Scotland select. The boys will go on to play a game again the South of Scotland select, and from that a squad of 16 players will be picked to represent Scotland in an international against Wales. Congratulations to the following boys and good luck! K.Borland, F.Swan, C.Christie, R.Petrie, K.Bellu, T.Johnson, J.Bruce, G.Yates, C.Pashley Well Done so far boys, keep up the good work and who knows what can be achieved!
North Coast Soccer Academy Pictured to
the right with the Dyce BC under 15s are the North Coast Soccer Academy team,
who came all the way from New South Wales to play Dyce last night (06/10/11).
The game finished 1 - 1 and all at Dyce Boys Club would like to extend their
greatest welcome to the side from Australia and hope that their stay is very
enjoyable (even if the weather is not!) Congratulations to Connor Wood (2000s) and Jamie Massie (2001s) who has been selected to play for the primary schools' select at their age group. Both have been selected to play for the Primary 7 team, with both boys attending Dyce Primary. A huge well done to both of you from everyone at Dyce Boys Club Friends in high places - 2
You will have
seen the earlier post regarding Mark McDonald being sworn in at Hollyrood as one
of our new MSPs wearing his Dyce Boys Club tie. It was a very pleasant surprise to hear the match day announcer at the Excelsior Stadium utter the immortal words: "History is made today as Dyce Boys Club become the first club to win the Scottish Cup 3 years in succession." If we doubted the size of the achievement it was certainly brought home to us by those few words: Dyce are the first team ever to complete that historic hat trick. Heartiest congratulations are due to all concerned, the current Management team of Mike, Mike, Dave, Johnny and Grant for this years success and of course we can not miss out the boy's previous management duo of Les and Steve who set the ball rolling with the victories at 14s and 15s. Of course the biggest plaudits go to the players, the majority of whom enjoyed success over the three years but the boys who came in later certainly played a huge part in the club's success. Just for the record it is interesting to note that in the three campaigns a total of 112 goals were scored for the loss of only 25 in 25 games. These figures do not reflect the penalty shoot out goals It is a proud record which may never be beaten and we would just like to say a big well done to each and everyone of you and a massive thank you for helping in the promotion of the good name of Dyce Boys Club. We should also mention not only the success on the field but commend the exemplary behaviour of the boys throughout the campaigns off the pitch as well. A massive well done to you all and in the words of the song - We are the Champions my friend How they won the trophy for the Third Time:
Harry Stewart [posted 23/04/11] Congratulations to ex-Dyce Boys Club player Harry Stewart, who has recently signed professional forms with Inverness Caley. Harry joined Dyce in season 2002-03 and finished the season as the Under 9 Clubman of the year , he was picked up by Aberdeen and stayed there until 2005. He rejoined Dyce that season and played at Under 12’s. The following season at Under 13, the team were crowned League Champions, and Harry also won Player of the Year. Harry’s final season at the club was at under 14’s. All at Dyce Boys Club wish Harry many years of success in his career, and are proud that another of our “Old Boys” is making a living from the game we all love. Well done. Explanation of Changes to Seasons [posted 09/03/11]
A number of parents and players have been asking
questions about what's happening with the seasons - so here goes with an
explanation.
There are no changes for the competitive age groups, i.e. 13's through to 16's - their season will follow the traditional August to May season and will have to endure the joys of cold wintry mornings at Aulton and Sheddocksley!!!. The games will continue to be 11 a side. Under 8s through to Under 11s - the season started this past weekend and will run through to November with breaks during the Easter holidays and July - long lies in the winter mornings will be most welcome and there is nothing better than playing or watching football on summer evenings! . These games will be 7 a side. The under 12s will be the transition season and they will have the option to play 7- a- side or 11 - a - side in readiness for the 11-a-side under 13 season. Their season will run from March (after the end of the under 11 seasons) through to June - leaving room for a break and a pre-season before going to under 13. The current under 12s will continue as is, through to end of May and will commence under 13 pre-season in time for an August start. Web Shop Just a reminder to all that about the webshop run by the club. This feature of the website allows people to shop on the internet, with some of the money spent coming back to the club. With many great stores included why not take a look by following this link and raise funds for your son's team SFA Quality Mark [posted 11/01/11] For the observant ones amongst you - you will have noticed a new logo when you log on to the website. Over the club photo you should notice the SFA Quality Mark logo which also further appears on the Home Page under the Dyce Boys Club badge. You will gather that the club has been recognised by the SFA and has now attained and been presented with the first of three possible awards under the Quality Mark Initiative i.e. the Standard Award. At a presentation evening at the Hilton Double Tree Hotel the club received their initial award and undertook to strive for the next stage, the Development Award. Further information of the presentation night (pictures and video) is available on the following link Quality Mark Awards 2010 The club are greatly indebted to George Anderson (with some little assistance by Len Nicol) for his endurance and hard work ensuring the Award was attained. Suffice to say we should not mention George's angry outbursts at various meetings when he felt he was getting absolutely nowhere despite putting a power of work and no little time into the project. However George's patience won the day and the club should be proud to now be in possession of this prestigious award. The Quality Mark Accreditation Scheme run by the Scottish FA recognises proactive clubs working to increase youth and community participation. There are three separate Quality Mark Award Categories - Standard, Development and Community. Clubs are able to receive the award after meeting criteria in areas such as coach and player development, management, administration, welfare and planning. Dyce Boys Club are on the first step of the ladder and aiming for the second so with a little bit more work and co-operation and maybe the odd outburst from our trusty Secretary will ensure we achieve our aim. We will keep you posted!
