Dyce BC  9 - 1  Sheddocksley BC

Sunday 2nd November 2008

Webster Park

On a brisk Sunday morning Dyce welcomed Sheddocksley to Webster Park.

The game kicked at a fierce pace with the play going from end to end. Sheddocksley went ahead when Jordan Cooper was caught in possession in the middle of the park and with the Dyce defence pushing out it allowed the Sheddocksley midfielder to drive in on goal to score. Cameron McArthur made a powerful run down the left hand side before cutting the ball back to Kieran Mearns who saw his shot hit the upright.  The game was end to end now and Sheddocksley were unlucky not to extend their lead when a shot was cleared of the Dyce goal line by their own player.  Sheddocksley again were unlucky when a long range effort was well saved by Sam Barbour.

Dyce began to find their game when Craig Gill played a good pass up to Kieran Mearns who played a neat one/two with Josh Bolton before driving the ball past the keeper. Corey Ritchie was alert to another attack from the visitors when his last ditch tackle prevented a shot on goal.  Dyce then had the woodwork to thank after a shot from a Sheddocksley player hit the post.

Dyce were soon ahead after a quick throw to Corey Ritchie saw his driven cross met by Kieran Mearns who lost his marker to turn the ball home. Craig Gill played the ball to Cameron McArthur.  His pinpoint pass found Kieran Mearns making a run through the middle and he coolly slotted the ball home for his third.

With the first period nearing its end Dyce were unlucky not to extend their lead after Ewen McGregor picked up the ball on the left.  His pass found Kieran Mearns in the box but a good save from the keeper denied Kieran of his fourth.

First Period 3 - 1

Dyce started the second period where they left off, attacking the Sheddocksley goal.  Cory Ritchie was unlucky when his looping header was cleared off the line. At the other end Ethan Garden had to use his pace to break down an attack by Sheddocksley, clearing the ball for a corner.  The Sheddocksley corner was cleared by Craig Gill. Ettiene picked up the ball in the middle of the park passed to the advancing Ewen McGregor who smashed the ball into the back of the net. A long range effort by Ethan Garden was well saved by the Sheddocksley stopper.  With the Dyce defence posted missing a Sheddocksley forward went one on one with Sam Barbour but his shot went well wide of the target.

Dyce extended their lead from a corner kick.  Ewen McGregor drove a cross in to the box where Ettiene was on hand to send the ball into the back of the net. Ettiene was again involved in the next attack with a driving run through the middle of the park before releasing Ethan Garden on the left but his powerful shot hit the side netting. When the Sheddocksley defence failed to clear their lines, the ball broke for Ethan Garden and he slammed the ball into the roof of the net.

Winning the ball, Craig Gill made a great run up the right before sending a deep cross to the back post where Euan Johnston was unmarked to head home into an empty net. At the end of the second period Ross Craigen was unlucky not to be on the score sheet when his shot was well saved by the keeper.

Second Period 7 - 1

A Sheddocksley attacker intercepted a goal kick by Sam Barbour early in the third period but fortunately for Dyce Sam Barbour saved the shot.

As the ball was played up the park Kieran Mearns first time lay off found Ross Craigen but his shot went wide of the post.  Cameron McArthur and Kieran Mearns combined to set up Josh Bolton but his effort flew well wide.  Jordan Cooper decided to try his luck with a long range shot but his effort went high over the crossbar.  Dyce then did manage to score another when Ewen McGregor made a good run down the left. His shot spun under the keeper’s body to allow Jordan Cooper the easy task of tapping it over the line.

Ewen McGregor sent Kieran Mearns down the line.  Kieran skipped past the last defender before squaring the ball past the advancing keeper to Ross Craigen to fire home.

Dyce played good football at times but all credit to Sheddocksley for their never say die attitude and sporting behaviour to make it an entertaining game.
