FDS 2 - 7 Dyce BC Sunday 7th September 2008 Kaimhill On a cold and wet morning at Kaimhill the two teams served up an entertaining game. FDS started brightly and a good move saw their central midfielder sting the palms of Dyce keeper, Sam Barbour. Dyce then had Cory Ritchie to thank for intercepting a pass through the Dyce defence to clear the danger. Dyce then began to up their game and from a Ross Craigen corner Kieran Mearns tried his luck with an overhead kick the ball fell nicely for Jordan Cooper to head the ball in to the path of the Ewan McGregor to drive the ball home. Craig Gill was then alert at the opposite end, sliding in to concede a corner. From the resulting kick a long clearance saw Ewan McGregor and Kieran Mearns combine well for Kieran Mearns to slide home. Sam Barbour again saved well from a long range effort by a FDS player. A strong run by Craig Gill down the right saw his strength take him past two players before delivering an inch perfect cross to Ewan McGregor at the back post who rifled home his second and Dyce’s third. The first period ended with Craig Gill shooting well over after good build up work from Jordan Cooper and Kieran Mearns. First Period: 0 – 3 The second period started with a good headed pass from Euan Johnston into the path of Cory Ritchie, but his effort flew over the bar. Good work from Cameron McArthur brought out a good save from the opposition's keeper. Good play by Euan Johnston from the right of midfield saw his excellent cross headed wide by Cory Ritchie. A strong run by Cameron McArthur saw the FDS keeper charge out to save at his feet. Euan Johnston was then alert to take advantage of a defensive mistake to fire home from close range. Good build up play by Dyce led to an opening when the ball fell to Ross Craigen at the back post only for his shot to go wide of the target. Ethan Garden and Josh Bolton combined down the right but there was nobody to take advantage of Josh’s cross. A corner saw an effort from Ethan Garden blocked by the FDS defence. A long clearance from the FDS was latched onto by their striker only to see Connor make a good save in the Dyce goal. Connor’s quick throw to Ethan Garden saw his long clearance picked up by Euan Johnston who calmly slotted home. The second period ended with Dyce under pressure and a great strike by the FDS striker saw the ball nestle into the top corner of the Dyce goal. Second Period: 1-5 From a corner Euan Johnston watched on as his snap shot went narrowly wide. Euan Johnston, looking for his hat-trick, then saw his shot go straight into the hands of the keeper after a good pass from Ethan Garden. Another goal was added when Jordan Cooper made a good turn to beat a defender and shot into the bottom right hand corner. A further attack saw Josh Bolton unlucky not to score when the FDS keeper saved with his knees. A sliding tackle by Ethan Garden saw Kieran Mearns pick the ball up in space he then played a great one-two with Euan Johnston before setting up Cameron McArthur to score number seven. Euan Johnston and Kieran Mearns again combined well only to see the latter shoot straight into the arms of the keeper. A mix up in the Dyce defence resulted in losing a goal when Ewan McGregor put the ball in his own net. All in all the boys played some good football and FDS should also take credit for a highly entertaining game which was played in good spirit. Well done boys. Full Time: 2-7
