Dyce BC  5 - 4  Byron BC

Sunday 21st September 2008

Northfield

Dyce kicked off with Euan Johnston finding space on the right before crossing to Ewan McGregor who saw his shot scrape the outside of the post.  Cory Ritchie was on hand at the other end to intercept an attack by Byron and cleared his lines.  Jordan cooper found Kieran Mearns at the edge of the box but Kieran saw his shot smothered on the line by a combination of the keeper and defender.  A good attack by Byron saw Sam Barbour race from his line to clear the danger and concede a corner. From the resulting kick Ewan McGregor cleared the ball off the line with a fine header.  A good through ball by Kieran Mearns found Jordan Cooper but he was outnumbered by the Byron defence.  A good run by Cory Ritchie saw his cross fall kindly for Jordan Cooper who saw his shot go wide of target.  A good move down the right saw Byron take the lead when the cross ball was volleyed high into the Dyce net.

Byron attacked again from the off and poor defending saw the ball fall kindly to a Byron attacker who knocked it home from close range.

First Period: 0 - 2

Dyce started the second half brightly when Cameron McArthur played a lovely through ball for Ewan McGregor to latch on to before rifling the ball home from an acute angle. But with Dyce still celebrating Byron went straight up the park to score their third when the Dyce defence got into a tangle to leave Sam Barbour exposed.

A good run by Ethan Garden saw him cross for Josh Bolton whose shot went over the bar.  A further chance fell to Josh Bolton when he latched on to a Ross Craigen through ball only to see his shot go past the post. Ewan McGregor pulled one back for Dyce when he was first to react to a mix up in the Byron defence to stab the ball home.

Second Period: 2 - 3

Dyce attacked straight from the off and a good run and cross by Ewan McGregor saw Ross Craigen escape his marker to volley home. But, as before, Byron again went straight up the park with Ethan Garden’s timely tackle conceding a corner.  But from the resulting kick a Byron player was left unmarked to head home.

Ross Craigen found space out on the right and from his delivery a Bryon defender could only turn the ball in to his own net to level the score.

Kieran Mearns then found Cory Ritchie overlapping on the right and from a good driven cross Jordan Cooper saw his effort cross the line.

Byron again went on the attack and only a great one handed save from Sam Barbour kept Byron out.  Josh Bolton was played through by Ethan Garden and his cross was met by Kieran Mearns who shot just wide of the target.

It was a hard fought win by Dyce against a hard working Byron side.

Scorers:
Ewan McGregor 2
