Dyce Boys Club FC  10 - 1  Cove BC United

Sunday 14th September 2008

Webster Park, Kingswells

The first fixture of the 2008-2009 season for Jake’s Under 11 team took place at Webster Park, Kingswells against Cove BC United in perfect conditions for football.

The match started with Cove on the front foot, but Dyce opened the scoring with one of their first attacks – Bruce Anderson played a through ball to Bradley Neish and he finished with a left foot shot.  The same pair combined again moments later to double the lead….this time Bruce lofted a high ball over the defence and Bradley Neish lobbed the bouncing ball over the keeper.  Cove responded with an attack that brought a good save from Ross Irvine in goals.  Cameron Shore then fed Matty Dick on the left and he played in Bradley but his shot was saved.

Cove scored when a fierce shot was parried by Ross and a Cove striker was quickest to the loose ball.  The game settled into an even contest with chances at both ends.  Angus Burrows, Glenn Murison and Fraser Wyness combined but Fraser’s shot cannoned off Bradley and out of play.  At the back, Liam Strachan was left exposed against three attackers but he did well to smother the danger and regain possession.

Matty played a corner to Bruce but his volley went over the bar.  Cove were awarded a free-kick within shooting distance, but the Dyce wall did its job as the driven effort grazed a defender's head and the crossbar as it went behind for a corner.  The last action of the half saw Matty hit the post at the end of a fine passing move.

Half-time 2-1

Matty played a cross-field pass to Bruce whose shot was pushed past for a corner…the corner landed at Matty Dick's feet and he turned quickly to fire home.  Cove responded with a long ball up the right wing, the big striker turned inside a fired a shot narrowly over.  After surviving a couple of near things, Dyce scored again – a shot from Bruce on the right was parried by the keeper and Glenn Murison was on hand to tap the ball into the empty net.

A frantic spell followed with play raging from end to end, before Bruce fired in a corner from the right which Glenn met with a firm header but the ball just cleared the crossbar.  Angus played the ball up the right wing out of defence, Bruce advanced then fired in a deep cross that Bradley Neish guided into the top corner for his hat-trick.  After creating so many goals for his team-mates Bruce Anderson decided it was time for a goal himself….he picked up possession in the centre of the field and beat several opponents before slotting the ball home with his left foot.

Cove gained a corner but the ball was cleared long and Fraser Wyness outpaced the last defender to score.  Liam released Fraser on the right and his pass found Glenn stretching at the back post but his effort went just past.  From the left Matty played a cross-field pass to Bruce Anderson on the right and he feinted inside to shoot home with his left foot.  Fraser advanced up the wing and centred for Matty Dick to score, then Bradley Neish scored the final goal as he followed up the rebound from his original effort.  The last action saw Cove attack in numbers but Ross managed to pull off two saves as the team raced back to help and Fraser cleared the ball off the line.

Full-time 10-1

Once they got into their rhythm this was a good passing performance from Dyce. But the scoreline was harsh on Cove as the game had been very even for a long time at 2-1.

Scorers:
Bradley Neish 4
Matty Dick 2
Bruce Anderson 2
Glenn Murison 1
Fraser Wyness 1
