Banchory BC  4 - 0   Dyce  BC

Sunday 7th September  2008

at Banchory

3 Periods of 25 minutes

 1st Period

On a damp, drizzly day at Banchory, Dyce produced a performance that mirrored the dismal weather.

Banchory had the best of the early exchanges and the scoreline was kept blank only by some stalwart defending by Dyce’s Adam Monk, Jack Pirie and Shane Pirie and some timely interventions by keeper Charlie Allardes.

Dyce’s attacks were sporadic and wingers Alex Cobban and JD Gray were effectively pinned back in a defensive role as they tried to cope with relentless Banchory pressure up both flanks. Service to the front players was poor with Dylan Mcelwee "ploughing a lone furrow" as he tried to feed off scraps that came his way.

1st Period: Banchory  0   Dyce 0

2nd Period

After only one minute of the second period Dyce were one down after a one-two from their twin strikers, which cut through the Dyce defence leaving their No 8 to shoot low into the net.

Banchory were piling on the pressure and Dyce keeper Charlie Allardes had to look lively to parry out a dangerous cross from the left and Jack Pirie had to execute a gaol line clearance to stop a rampant Banchory side from going further ahead.

However, the inevitable happened in the 5th minute of the period when Banchory did get goal number two after poor defending on the Dyce side. The onslaught continued with a long range shot from one of the Banchory midfielders which crashed off the Dyce crossbar soon after, with the rebound being scrambled clear.

The last third of the second period saw Dyce enjoy a period of pressure, but, despite three corners in a row the only result was a shot by Alex Cobban that went wide.

2nd Period : Banchory 2  Dyce 0

3rd Period

Dyce kicked off the final period of the match, but, soon Banchory were threatening again. But good defensive play by Dyce’s Adam Monk saw him clear danger and find Jordan Clark, who found Jordan Cromar with a long ball. Jordan Cromar then tried a lob from 25 yards out but his effort went wide.

The Dyce defence were posted missing in the 7th minute when, after a Dyce attack, the Banchory number 10, latched on to a long ball out of defence, took it into the penalty area, and calmly slotted the ball past Charlie Allardes to give Banchory a 3-0 lead.

A minute later a corner from the right from Dyce striker, Jordan Cromar, saw the Banchory keeper parry the ball from under the crossbar. However, no Dyce player was on hand to take advantage and the chance was lost when the defence cleared.

In the 13th minute Dyce went further behind when they failed to clear their lines after another Banchory attack and a speculative long range low drive by their midfielder went through a ruck of players, ending up in the Dyce net to make it 4-0 for Banchory.

Dyce tried to get something out of the game as time ran out and Alex Cobban brought a save out of the Banchory keeper after being put in by Dylan Mcelwee.

Final Score:  Banchory BC  4   Dyce BC U12  0

Man of the Match: Sean Pirie

A disappointing performance too many players were below par.
