Deveronvale  0 - 3  Dyce BC

Sunday 9th November 2008

at Banff

1st Period

Deveronvale kicked off and Dyce had the better of the early exchanges with Dylan Mcelwee just failing to get on the end of a Dan Middler cross in the 3rd minute.

The home side responded with a bit of pressure on the Dyce defence and timely interceptions by Shane Pirie and Jack Pirie, in the Dyce defence, managed to prevent Vale causing any damage. A fine save by Dyce keeper Charlie Allardes after the Vale No 16 connected with a volley from a corner, underlined Dyce’s determination to keep the 'Goals Against' column blank.

In the 7th minute Dyce were back on the offensive and Dylan Mcelwee drove narrowly over the bar from just outside the penalty area after being set up by Jordan Cromar.

The end to end football continued and Dyce defenders Jack Pirie and Adam Monk were called upon to make crucial tackles to thwart the Vale attackers as the momentum of the game shifted again. As the first period wore on Dyce began to get the upper hand and started to pass the ball around and in the 18th minute Jordan Clark tried his luck with a shot from just outside the Vale penalty area which the home goalkeeper held.

The period ended with Dan Middler being caught offside when he was put through by a Shane Pirie pass after he’d played a one-two with Alex Cobban.

2nd Period

The beginning of the second period was punctuated by end to end football with both goalkeepers in action. In the 6th minute Charlie Allardes in the Dyce goal made another good save after a long range shot from a Deveronvale midfielder.

Dyce produced a fine move in the 14th minute, with Jordan Clark making a great intercepting tackle after Vale broke up the left. He then laid the ball off to Jordan Cromar who in turn found Dylan Mcelwee and the Dyce striker played a beautiful ball through for Cameron Laird. He had beaten the offside trap and was through on his own with only the goalkeeper to beat when, just on the edge of the box, he was pulled down by the Vale centre back giving Dyce a free kick. Jordan Cromar took the kick, but, unfortunately his shot cleared the crossbar.

However, Jordan Cromar made amends a minute later, when he drove the ball home from the edge of the penalty area to give Dyce the lead, after Dylan Mcelwee had intercepted a poor kick out from the Vale keeper and set him up.

Deveronvale struck back almost immediately, but, Ben Leslie in the Dyce defence managed to get his body in the way of a Deveronvale forward’s shot to prevent a certain goal and keep Dyce ahead.

3rd Period

Deveronvale started off the final period with Dyce keeper Charlie Allardes having to make a save after a goalmouth scramble. Dyce retaliated and in the 4th minute of the period, Cameron Laird brought a fine save out of the Vale keeper after a Jordan Cromar shot had been parried out and Cameron latched on to it.

One minute later, Dyce went further ahead with a fine goal when Jordan Clark found Dan Middler in the Vale penalty area, the Dyce striker then lost his marker and slotted the ball into the net to put Dyce two up.

Another fine bit of football by Dyce, involving Cameron Laird, Dan Middler and Jordan Cromar, resulted in a fine through ball to Jordan Clark who made his way into the Vale penalty area and shot across the keeper and into the net to seal the game.

In the 11th minute Dyce nearly went further ahead after good work by JD Gray on the wing who found Dylan Mcelwee. Dylan offloaded to Dan Middler and Dan then passed to JD again, inside the Vale box, JD Gray shot and his shot was cleared off the line. Cameron Pashley followed up and from six yards the chance was missed.

With two minutes of the match left Deveronvale hit the post as they tried to breach the Dyce defence.
