Lewis United 3 - 1 Dyce BC Sunday 28th September 2008 at Findon 1st Period Lewis started the game off and the early exchanges saw Dyce keeper Charlie Allardes make a save from a low shot, when the Lewis striker pounced on a corner awarded after Dyce sweeper Jack Pirie cleared his lines. In the fourth minute of the period, Dyce had a throw in just at the Lewis corner flag on the right hand side taken by Jordan Clark who found Aaron Penny just inside the penalty area. Aaron headed on into the danger area and a clever one–two involving Dylan Mcelwee and Dan Middler, saw Dan slot the ball into the net to give Dyce the lead. The following five minutes saw the Dyce defence under a bit of pressure, but timely interventions from Jordan Cromar, Adam Monk and Jack Pirie contributed to frustrating the Lewis strikers and Charlie Allardes did well to save a low drive after Lewis forced a corner. Dyce counter attacked and in the 10th minute, midfielder Aaron Penny drove narrowly past, after Jordan Clark set him up with a good ball in from the right flank. Soon after, Cameron Pashley put Jordan Clark away on the right again and Jordan’s cross found Dylan Mcelwee whose shot was well saved by the Lewis goalkeeper. In the 15th minute, despite heroic defending from Dyce which saw Charlie Allardes make a great save from a low shot and Shane Pirie making a marvellous goal line clearance, Lewis equalised against the run of play. Three minutes later Lewis scored again to go 2-1 in front with at least two of their strikers looking suspiciously offside. However, the referee appeared to be the only one in the ground that didn’t see it! Dyce tried hard to get back on level terms and the closest they came was in the 24th minute of the period when Jordan Clark found Cameron Pashley who attempted to lob the Lewis goalkeeper from the edge of the box, but the ball went just past the post. 1st Period : Lewis Utd 2 Dyce 1 2nd Period Lewis nearly went further ahead early in the period after their attacking midfielder waltzed through the Dyce defence and shot, but Charlie Allardes was in top form and yet again saved well. The 10th minute of the period saw a fine move by Dyce involving Jordan Cromar who made his way down the left flank, cut inside and beat a defender before putting in Aaron Penny whose shot went over the bar. Minutes later, Jordan Cromar found Dylan Mcelwee who had found some space and he proceeded to round the goalkeeper. However, the ball was eventually cleared for a corner. Dylan Mcelwee then headed wide from the resulting corner. Right at the end of the second period, Dyce midfielder Cameron Laird put in a fine pass for Jordan Cromar whose shot went wide. 2nd Period: Lewis Utd 2 Dyce 1 3rd Period Dyce had the first clear cut chance in the 4th minute of the period with winger Alex Cobban having his shot saved by the opposition keeper. Lewis counter attacked , but were thwarted by Adam Monk with a fine tackle. He then put Jordan Cromar away on a solo run and, after making his way into the Lewis penalty area, his shot was drilled wide of the target. In the 8th minute a quick throw in by Dan Middler on the right hand side saw Alex Cobban try his luck with a long range effort from outside the penalty area. However, the Lewis keeper saved again. Six minutes later, some good passing in midfield by Dyce involving Cameron Pashley, Alex Cobban and Jordan Cromar ended with the Lewis keeper having to save again, this time from a Cameron Laird shot. In the 15th minute another poor refereeing decision ended up with Lewis gaining a penalty after what seemed a perfectly good challenge by Adam Monk outside the penalty box! However, justice was done when the striker screwed the ball past the diving Charlie Allardes right hand post. Charlie Allardes produced yet another quality save in the 18th minute as Lewis broke up the right. In the 20th minute, Dyce’s Jordan Cromar latched on to a poor defensive clearance and proceeded to hit a cross-cum-shot which hit the post, as the away side searched for an equaliser. Just on full time Lewis got their third goal and sealed the game. Final Score: Lewis United U12 3 : Dyce BC U12 1 Man of the Match : Adam Monk Some good football played, but missed chances (and an appalling referee) lost us the game. However, a big improvement over the Banchory match which I last reported on!! |
