Huntly BC 0 - 11 Dyce BC Sunday 31st August 2008 at Huntly 3 Periods of 25 minutes 1st Period Dyce kicked off and soon were causing the Huntly defence problems, with Alex Cobban running riot up the right flank. In the first five minutes Jordan Cromar sent Alex on a run down the wing and his cross found the head of Dylan Mcelwee who headed narrowly past the post. Jordan Cromar came close himself soon after with a long range shot that skidded wide. It came as no surprise when Dyce opened the scoring in the 7th minute when JD Gray played a one-two with Jordan Cromar in the Huntly penalty area and after having his first effort saved by the keeper, he made no mistake with his follow up to put Dyce 1-0 up. In the 8th minute a clever lob by Dan Middler came crashing off the Huntly crossbar as he tried to catch the goalkeeper out. However, JD Gray collected the rebound and laid the ball off to Dylan Mcelwee who drove home to give Dyce their second goal. It was all one way traffic and the Huntly goalkeeper was performing heroics to prevent Dyce from adding to their tally. It took until the 18th minute before Dyce goalkeeper, Charlie Allardes, was called into action, when he did well to cut out a threatening cross from the right after a rare Huntly attack. 1st period Huntly 0 Dyce BC 2 2nd Period The second period started off with some Huntly pressure and Aaron Penny did some good work in defence to clear Dyce’s lines. He came close to getting on the scoresheet soon after, with a long range drive that went narrowly past the post. It wasn’t long before Dyce were on the goal trail again and Jordan Cromar latched on to a through ball from Dylan Mcelwee and his shot was well saved by the keeper. However, Dan Middler beat the goalkeeper this time from close in to make it 3-0 for Dyce. Pressure continued from Dyce and the Huntly keeper did well to save from Dylan Mcelwee, Jordan Cromar and Adam Monk in quick succession. The 15th minute of the period saw Huntly launch a dangerous attack, but they were thwarted by Dyce sweeper Jack Pirie. A minute later Dyce went further ahead when another save from a Jordan Cromar shot saw the ball break loose and this time Dylan Mcelwee finished the move off with his second and Dyce’s fourth goal. JD Gray had the ball in the net in the 20th minute, but, unfortunately the referee adjudged that the Dyce winger was offside. In the 23rd minute, Dylan Mcelwee headed home after a good move down the left involving JD Gray and Jordan Cromar, giving him his hat trick. 2nd Period Huntly 0 Dyce BC 5 3rd Period Dyce were straight into the attack in the final period of the match and within the space of a minute Jordan Cromar had scored a brace from two well hit shots to give Dyce a 7-0 lead. In the 10th minute of the period, a Jordan Cromar corner from the right was, unfortunately for Huntly, deflected into their own net by one of their defenders to make it eight for Dyce. Huntly retaliated and a long range shot by their midfielder brought out a good save from Dyce stopper Charlie Allardes and soon after Dyce defensive midfielder, Cammy Laird, made a fine last ditch tackle to make sure his side kept a clean sheet. However, normal service was resumed when Aaron Penny in the Dyce midfield hit a fine through pass to Dylan Mcelwee who skilfully drew the goalkeeper and slotted the ball home to give Dyce their ninth goal. In the 15th minute, Huntly showed their fighting spirit and launched an attack down the left flank. However, Ben Leslie in the right wing back position did well to clear the danger. Chris Hoyle in the heart of the Dyce defence, was called upon to make a similar intervention soon after. Dyce came back again and the excellent Huntly keeper had to look lively to pick the ball off Jordan Clark’s foot as he was about to pull the trigger. He was called into action again soon after, when he made a fine save from an Aaron Penny pile driver from outside the box. Goal number ten for Dyce came from sweeper, Jack Pirie, who sent Alex Cobban down the right wing, and from Alex’s fine cut back drove low and hard into the Huntly net. Just to put the icing on the cake, right on full time, Shane Pirie cut in from the left wing back position and hit a fine low drive into the net to make it 11-0 for Dyce. Final Score: Huntly BC 0 Dyce BC 11
