at Pitmedden Road

Scottish Cup - 3rd Round

After 5 weeks without a game Dyce were at home in the 3rd Round of the Scottish Cup for the second year running.  This time against the Glasgow & District side Glentyan Thistle BC who had entered the Scottish Cup for the first time.

The first half saw two good goals in the first 3 minutes.  Mearns winning the ball, released Buchan to stroke the ball home. Then Buchan winning the ball and hitting the net with a well placed right foot shot.  Some good play, especially when getting the ball out wide and causing problems down the flanks, but, instead of putting the game beyond Glentyan, several easy chances were scorned.

 Half Time: 2 - 0

Second half - no passing football, no competing, poor defending all over, goal conceded, player sent off.  Only good point, with 4 minutes to go, was Buchan completing his hat trick by beating three defenders on the run then calmly, not trying to burst the net, hitting the target and slotting the ball past the keeper.  Thankfully the final whistle blew.

Full time: 3 - 1

Glentyan competed well and both touchlines could see their goal coming well before poor defending allowed the striker a clear shot.  Dyce still have problems concentrating and playing well for 80 minutes.  Previously they took heed of advice for the second half but, after playing some good passing football in the first half, they died a death in the second.  Still Dyce are through to the 4th round.
