Dyce BC 2 - 0 Colony Park Saturday 8th November 2008 at Pitmedden Road Great Northern Trophies League A
Dyce were up against their old
rivals Colony Park who had recently had a good result
against the league leaders.
Dyce played with a gusty wind in the first half but it seemed to favour Colony. They were able to take the ball down and play to feet around the struggling Dyce players. Dyce were mainly on their heels and as a result were second to the ball with the second ball hardly ever won. In saying that, when Dyce got the ball down and out wide, chances were created. Dyce had the better of any chances and hit the post, the bar and the Colony keeper made two excellent diving saves. Half Time: 0 - 0 The second half needed to be better with Dyce showing more commitment in the tackle. As the minutes ticked by Dyce began to win more midfield battles and in the 57 min. Murray won a midfield header which fell to Sinclair. His through pass released Buchan to race forward into the box and hit the back of the net. 1-0. Dyce were now producing some good passing football and using the wide areas of the park to great advantage. However Colony did cause problems when they broke upfield. Callum Smith, in a defending role, had to look lively to head a shot off the line following a series of Colony corners. With pressure being applied to the Colony defence a superb deep right sided corner from Callum Smith in the 66 min. reached Buchan at the back post and, because he kept the ball low, his drilled volley flew past the Colony defenders and keeper. 2-0 Both goals had hit the target and were not net bursting attempts. Dyce continued to play passing football and with Colony using more of the longer ball, the defence were able to mop up the attacks. Full Time: 2 - 0 The second half was the best the squad have played all season with some good passing moves, wide play and resolute defending. One of the pleasing features was the subs who were used fitted well into the pattern and played their winning part. Well done boys. Mike, George, Bob, Johnny.
