Dyce BC 10 - 0 Dyce Boys Club FC Sunday 12th October 2008 at Webster Park With neither side having a fixture this week it was decided we would have a “friendly” between the two 9s teams. Overheard prior to the game “Hey dad we’re playing in red today just like Aberdeen”. “No son” came the reply “You play for a real football team who are not bottom of the league”. Even before kick off there was a bit of sportsmanship when the Dyce Boys Club FC management stole our keeper Ben but little did they know our substitute Alex was a world class goalie! The early part of the game was very tight with neither team getting on top. Dyce Boys Club FC’s defenders Owen and Innes were winning crucial tackles keeping Dyce BC at bay. Liam had a shot well saved and Dyce Boys Club FC went straight up the other end but Alex brought off a fine diving save from Jamie’s shot. With only a couple of minutes of the first period remaining, Dyce BC finally got their breakthrough after a strong run down the left by Gabriel who then fed the ball to Finlay who finished well. Finlay added his second straight away after good work by Ross on the left. Dyce Boys Club FC were unlucky not to pull a goal back just before the break when Alex saved well from Craig. 1st Period 2 – 0 Finlay didn’t waste any time in grabbing his hat trick after being set up by Ross again. Dyce BC were starting to play some really good one touch passing and creating numerous chances. Ross grabbed his well deserved goal after a good passing move from the back starting with James who gave the ball to Liam and his perfect through ball was finished by Ross. Liam then got on the score sheet after he pounced on a mix up in the Dyce Boys Club FC defence. Dyce BC then put together the best move of the match after three consecutive one-twos Liam found himself through on goal but his powerful drive cannoned back into play off the crossbar and was cleared by Innes. Liam did however make up for that soon after when he finished well after a strong run down the right by Reigan. 2nd Period 6 – 0 “If Alex can do it, it must be easy” said Reigan, as he put on the goalie gloves for the last period! Alex didn’t waste any time getting involved in the game and played a good one-two with Finlay but his shot was well blocked by Craig. Finlay rounded off his goals for the day with a fine left footed finish low into the corner. Dyce Boys Club FC forced a corner but it was cleared and Dyce BC counter attacked with Sean finishing off the move. Dyce Boys Club FC put some pressure on the defence and Ross did well to acrobatically clear for a corner. Jamie’s delivery from the resultant corner caused a mix up in the box and Reigan saved with more luck than judgement! Dyce BC finished the match off well with Liam somehow scoring straight from a corner kick and adding his fourth with a long range bullet! Final score 10 – 0 The match was a worthwhile exercise all round and all the boys would agree it was better than being in their beds on a Sunday morning! Although Dyce Boys Club FC lost 10 goals today their attitude and commitment was first class and at times they played some good passing football.
