Colony Park 0 - 8 Dyce Boys Club FC Sunday 5th October 2008 at Port Park, Port Elphinstone
The
first five minutes were quite tight with both sides sizing each
other up and most of the play being confined to midfield. Colony
were first to break and Archie Mair, in goals, was glad to see a
good Colony effort go past his right hand post. Dyce broke to the
other end and Craig Robb brought out a fine save from the Colony
stopper with a long range shot. Jamie Massie made a good run down
the left hand side beating a couple of players before the ball was
played out for a corner. Lee McAllister and James Morrison worked a
short corner kick routine but Lee's shot was mis-hit and eventually
cleared.
Lee
McAllister played the ball up the line to James Morrison who flashed
a cross into the Colony box but after a scramble the danger was
cleared. Innes Copeland won a strong challenge and passed the ball
to Jamie Massie on the left who fired in a powerful shot which
forced the keeper into another good save. Dyce were now controlling
the midfield and Jamie Massie once again tried his luck from long
distance only to see the keeper make another fine stop. Dyce won a
corner and when it was played into the box by James Morrison it was
only half cleared and Owen Murison
pounced on the loose ball to lash home the rebound.
Dyce
were now playing some good football pegging Colony Park in their own
half. Intercepting a clearance, Craig Robb drove forward and
powerfully shot home. Jamie Massie made another good run up the
left hand side before crossing into the box but the Colony defence
coped well and cleared their lines. Taking a crossfield ball from
Owen Murison, Jamie Massie drove forward but once again the Colony
keeper saved his shot. Innes Copeland had to look sharp at the back
to stop a quick break away attack from Colony Park. Owen Murison
went on a good run down the right and crossed into the box where
Craig Robb
was on hand to fire home with his left foot.
Lee McAllister
was played in from a corner kick and his long range effort found the
bottom corner of the net. Craig Robb was unlucky when his fierce
shot beat the keeper but rebounded into play where
Lee McAllister
was first to the loose ball to prod home from close range.
Liam Murray
and Brian Mair, who had just come off the bench, worked a great
one-two which saw Liam through on goals and he showed good composure
to slip the ball past the advancing keeper. Nearing the end of the
first 25 minute period Jamie Massie
at last got his name on the score sheet with a blistering left foot
shot which hit the top corner of the net giving the Colony keeper no
chance.
Half
Time: 0 - 7
Dyce
started the second half on the front foot and Brian Mair tested the
Colony keeper with a right foot shot which was saved at the expense
of a corner. Dyce introduced two more substitutes in Josh Low and
Harry Ogilvie and a good one-two between Brian Mair and Josh Low saw
Brian's shot go narrowly past the post. Picking the ball up on the
left hand side Harry Ogilvie beat his marker before crossing into
the box but there were no Dyce takers. Owen Murison showed great
awareness snuffing out a quick break away Colony attack.
Winning
a strong challenge at the back, Craig Robb drove forward and
although his 20 yard shot hit the target the Colony keeper saved.
Jamie Massie took over in goals and allowed Archie Mair to play the
final 15 minutes outfield. A good passing move involving Lee
McAllister, Archie Mair and Harry Ogilvie saw the ball played
through to Josh Low but his shot was blocked at the expense of a
corner. Brian Mair played the corner to the back post where
Harry Ogilvie
was on hand to score from close range.
Full
Time: 0 - 8
This was a much improved performance on last week's game.
Well done boys
