Fraserburgh Link-Up YFC 0 - 14 Dyce Boys Club FC Sunday 21st September 2008 at Fraserburgh On a bright sunny morning, perfect for football, Dyce started the quicker of the two teams putting Fraserburgh on the back foot. Winning the ball in midfield, Craig Robb burst forward but his shot was deflected for a corner which came to nothing. Taking a pass from Owen Murison, Lee McAllister broke down the right hand side before firing home a shot into the keeper’s right hand corner. Jamie Massie beat a couple of players on the left hand side before cutting the ball back to Craig Robb in the centre of the park. He cleverly laid the ball off to the on-rushing Lee McAllister who smashed home his second. The Broch keeper was called into action when he made good saves, first from James Morrison and then from Craig Robb. The third goal was only slightly delayed when Craig Robb drove through the middle before firing a fierce shot which gave the keeper no chance. Working a short corner kick, the ball was played into the middle and Jamie Massie was unlucky to see his shot edge narrowly past the post. Good play down the right by Lee McAllister saw the ball eventually cleared for a corner. Jamie Massie played the corner into the Fraserburgh penalty area and, when it was only half cleared, Owen Murison struck a good shot from twelve yards into the back of the net. James Morrison ghosted past a couple of Fraserburgh defenders and won a corner. After a goal mouth scramble it was eventually cleared. Craig Robb went on a powerful run up the middle and laid the ball into the path of Jamie Massie, but his goalbound effort was blocked on the line by a defender. A good break by Fraserburgh saw Archie Mair in the Dyce goals pull off a great save. Dyce went straight to the other end and Owen Murison forced the Broch stopper into a good save. Play was end to end now, and Archie Mair had to rush off his line and half cleared a short pass back. Innes Copeland mopped up the danger clearing the ball downfield. Breaking through the middle, Owen Murison fired in a fierce shot which the keeper could only parry. Brian Mair was first on to the rebound and he blasted home. Brian Mair danced past three Fraserburgh defenders and although his shot beat the keeper it cannoned back into play off the post and after a goalmouth scramble was eventually cleared. First Period: 0 - 5 Brian Mair played a pass through to Liam Murray who played the ball into the box. With the ball bobbling about Jamie Massie challenged the keeper and put the ball into the net, but the goal was disallowed. From a short throw-in the ball was played into the centre and Owen Murison side footed the ball into the bottom corner to see Dyce go into a 6 – 0 lead. Jamie Massie and Liam Murray worked a short corner kick routine and although the keeper held Jamie’s shot Liam was first to the rebound to put the ball in the net. Fraserburgh broke to the other end and the ever alert Archie Mair brought off a fantastic save, diving to his right, to deny the Fraserburgh striker. After a good run Brian Mair’s goal bound effort was deflected for a corner. When the ball was played into the box, clever passing football between Innes Copeland and Brian Mair saw the ball played to Owen Murison who completed his hat-trick. A good passing move involving Lee McAllister, Liam Murray and Brian Mair saw Brian’s shot saved by the keeper but Jamie Massie followed up to hit home the rebound. A good break up the right hand side saw the Fraserburgh keeper make a good save from Liam Murray. With Dyce pressing forward they were caught by a quick breakaway, but, once again, Archie Mair came to the rescue, saving well. Good interplay between James Morrison, Liam Murray and Brian Mair saw the ball played to Innes Copeland on the left hand side but his shot was saved. Winning the ball in midfield, Craig Robb played a long ball through to Brian Mair on the right who crossed the ball into the box and Innes Copeland ghosted in at the back post to fire a shot under the keeper. Second Period: 0 - 10 Good battling by Innes Copeland saw him drive up the left and cross into the box, where Liam Murray was unlucky to see his shot well saved by the keeper. Dyce forced three corners in quick succession but the Fraserburgh defence was alert and cleared their lines. Strong tackling by Owen Murison in the centre of midfield saw him play a super pass through to Innes Copeland, whose shot beat the keeper but was deflected by a defender for a corner kick. Craig Robb, now in goals, rushed from his line to clear a dangerous Fraserburgh through ball. Archie Mair tried a shot from the half way line which went through a ruck of players past the unsighted Broch keeper into the back of the net. A good break down the left saw the ball cut inside to Archie Mair who blasted home his second of the day. Another good passing move between James Morrison, Archie Mair and Innes Copeland saw Innes’s shot go narrowly past. A good corner kick played in by Jamie Massie led to Liam Murray heading the ball goalwards, but again the Broch keeper saved. After some good inter-passing Jamie Massie was unlucky, his well struck shot flying past the post. Another well struck corner by Jamie, had James Morrison blasting the ball home after a scramble in the Fraserburgh box. Seconds before the final whistle blew, an Archie Mair shot deflected off a defender's foot and went high over the keeper’s head into the back of the net - a well deserved hat-trick. A terrific passing performance from the boys today.
