Stonehaven YFC 0 - 6 Dyce Boys Club FC Sunday 26th October 2008 at Mineral Wells, Stonehaven
Dyce
travelled to play Stonehaven managed by former player Graeme
Anderson (Most
Improved Player of the Year 1984/85 - photo on Dyce Boys Club
website archive section). On a sunny morning with conditions
perfect for football Dyce started brightly and a good passing move
started by Owen Murison at the back, then Craig Robb saw the ball
played to Lee McAllister out wide but Lee's cross into the box was
cleared by the Stonehaven defence.
Winning
the ball in the middle of the park, Craig Robb drove forward and
fired in a long range shot which the Stonehaven keeper comfortably
saved. A quick thrown-in by Owen Murison on the right to Lee
McAllister saw the ball cut back to Craig Robb whose cross to the
far post saw Jamie Massie
ghost in and prod home from close range to put Dyce ahead.
Winning
a challenge on the left, Innes Copeland played the ball up the line
to Jamie Massie who beat a couple of players before crossing to
Lee McAllister
who had time and space at the back post and he coolly stroked the
ball into the back of the net with his left foot. Dyce were getting
to grips with the midfield and another good passing move involving
Craig Robb and Jamie Massie saw Jamie's dangerous cross into the box
cleared at the second attempt. Liam Murray
pounced on an error by a Stonehaven player, cleverly beat two
defenders in the box and stroked the ball home with his right foot.
Playing
a one-two with Liam Murray, Craig Robb fired in a fierce shot which
the keeper could only parry and Lee McAllister
was on hand to slot home the rebound. Goal number five followed
soon after with a similar type move but this time Lee McAllister's
shot was parried by the keeper and Jamie Massie
followed up to score. Jamie was unlucky soon after when from a
corner kick his volley went narrowly past the post. Liam Murray
played a slide rule pass to Jamie Massie who drove down the left,
cut into the box and fired a shot across the keeper but just past
the upright.
First
Period: 0 - 5
A good
one-two between Innes Copeland and James Morrison saw the keeper
make a good save from James's shot. A cross from the right by Liam
Murray was met on the run by Jamie Massie and his shot brought out a
fantastic save from the Stoney keeper. The keeper saved well soon
after from Craig Robb and James Morrison. Archie Mair, in goals,
although having little to do up to this point showed great awareness
to rush to the edge of his box and clear a dangerous Stonehaven
counter attack. Jamie Massie beat two players on the left but his
cross into the box was eventually cleared after a scramble.
Stonehaven pressed forward at the end of the second period and from
a corner kick with the ball bouncing in the box the Stonehaven
striker fired in a great shot which beat Archie Mair but Craig Robb,
on the goal line, somehow managed to clear the danger.
Second
Period: 0 - 5
Craig
Robb latched on to a long clearance by Archie Mair and played the
ball to Josh Low who cut the ball back to James
Morrison who blasted
home from the edge of the box. A good passing move between James
Morrison and Josh Low saw the ball cut back to Craig Robb whose left
foot shot went past the upright. Stonehaven were unlucky soon
afterwards when, after a scramble in the Dyce box, Stonehaven were
unable to capitalise and the ball went past the post. Owen Murison
intercepted a Stonehaven pass, drove in on goals and fired in a shot
but the Stoney keeper saved.
Archie
Mair had to be on his toes near the end of the game when he made a
superb save down to his right hand side to keep a clean sheet.
Full
Time: 0 - 6
The
boys played very well today and they are improving with each game.
