Dyce Boys Club FC  5 - 4   Culter BC Colts

Sunday 28th September 2008

at Aulton

Our goalkeeper, Archie Mair was missing today and Liam Murray volunteered to go in goals for the first period with Lee McAllister replacing him for the second.  Owen Murison won a challenge in his own half before driving forward and playing the ball through to Brian Mair whose snapshot was cleared by the Culter defence.  Craig Robb stopped a Culter attack and passed the ball back to Owen Murison who played a good ball up the right hand side to Lee McAllister but his cross into the box found no Dyce takers.

A good passing move involving Innes Copeland, Lee McAllister and Craig Rob saw Brian Mair fire in a shot which the Culter keeper saved.  From a long clearance by Liam Murray, Craig Robb headed the ball into the path of Jamie Massie but his shot went narrowly past the post.  A timely tackle by Innes Copeland on the left saw the ball played out for a corner to Culter.  From the resultant corner, the ball bobbled in the box and our stand-in goalkeeper Liam Murray pounced on the loose ball to make a fine save at the Culter striker’s feet.

Dyce went up to the other end and a Craig Robb shot stung the Culter keeper’s fingers.   The game was end to end now and Liam Murray in goals made a fine save from a fierce strike from the edge of the box.  Culter went ahead scoring a good goal which gave Liam  no chance.  Dyce’s reply was immediate and from the kick off the ball was played to Owen Murison who passed to Lee McAllister. He found James Morrison out wide on the right and his pinpoint cross found Jamie Massie at the back post and he blasted home to equalize.

Dyce went ahead soon after when James Morrison and Jamie Massie played a good one/two up the right hand side and James steadied himself before firing home.  Slack defending saw Culter equalize with only minutes of the first period to go.  Just before the half time whistle Craig Robb had a long range shot tipped round the post by the Culter keeper.

Half time:  2  -  2

Culter went ahead early in the second half when a long range shot was saved by Lee McAllister in goals but the Culter striker followed up to blast home the rebound.  Working a short corner kick routine, Liam Murray played the ball to James Morrison who crossed into the box to see Jamie Massie score from close range.  Liam Murray had a good run down the right but his inviting cross into the box was well defended by Culter.  Craig Robb tried his luck from long range again but his shot went inches past the post.

Showing great strength and riding two or three strong challenges, Craig Robb battled his way through midfield but his final shot was off target.  Culter broke to the other end and only a good save by Lee McAllister prevented Culter from taking the lead.  This was only delayed when soon afterwards Culter scored a good goal to go into a 4 – 3 lead.  Good hustling in the opposition half by Liam Murray saw him win the ball and cross into the box where Brian Mair scored from close in.

With time running out, Dyce scored the winner with a Wimbledon type goal.  Lee McAllister kicked a long ball downfield and the Culter defence were unable to clear their lines.  James Morrison pounced on the loose ball to hit an unstoppable shot into the top corner of the net from the edge of the box.

Full Time:  5  -  4

In their three previous games the boys have played some superb
passing football but although not playing as well as they can today,
the boys showed great character coming from behind
on three occasions to win the game.

Scorers:-
Jamie Massie 2
James Morrison 2
Brian Mair 1
