Dyce BC 15
Ellon Meadows 0

Sunday 22nd August 2010
Pitmedden Road
Batt Cables Section 7

A new season and a new squad of players was met by a bright pleasant morning at Pitmedden road with two sets of players keen to get their season under way. It was a great start for Dyce with Leslie scoring twice within 2mins. and on 6mins when Cooper saved a Murison drive Anderson was on hand to crack the ball home. Anderson got his second on 9mins. when Strachan played a deep ball down the left for Wyness and his run and cut back was executed neatly giving the Ellon keeper no chance and Dyce a 4-0 lead. Wyness almost scored but for a good save by Cooper then a goal line clearance by Blair at the heart of the Ellon defence. Good Dyce pressure saw Horne have a long range effort go just past the post and after a good move it looked like Anderson would score only for Wilson to make a dramatic clearance hitting the ball off his own post and away to safety. Anderson did complete his hat trick midway through the half with a sweet drive from the edge of the box giving the keeper no chance and later on 26mins. Murison picked up a clearance drove forward and placed his shot high into the net giving Dyce a 6-0 lead. The Ellon players kept battling throughout the half and when they did get forward the two central defenders Rennie and Smith gave them little change protecting Alexander in the Dyce goal. Leslie completed his hat trick on 30mins with Strachan and Wyness again combining well down the left when the ball was crossed Leslie showed great composure to slot the ball home. Johnstone was doing a power of work down the right flank and with the half coming to a close he won a corner that was cleared for yet another corner which was delivered perfectly for Strachan to head home and give Dyce a 8-0 lead.

HT: 8 - 0

With changes made just after half time it was still Dyce putting the Ellon defence under pressure but they were standing firm and defending well. It was on 9mins that a cross from Johnstone was cleared to Murison whose shot was blocked and Cran was the first to react and hooked the ball into the net to make it 9-0. Cran got his second on 18mins. after a long range effort from Strachan was saved Cran latched on to the loose ball to smash it high into the corner of the net. A minute later Adu was unlucky with a glancing header that went just past the post and on 22mins he did get the ball into the net only to be ruled offside. On 24mins a lofted cross from Leslie glanced of a defender's head but only to Adu who headed over the keeper to score and four minutes later he got his second slotting the ball home after good build up play by Anderson on the edge of the box to give Dyce a 12-0 lead. A good long ball by Grant on 29mins. made its way to Leslie who twisted and turned two defenders before placing the ball into the far corner giving the keeper no chance and Leslie his fourth goal of the match. 2mins later more Dyce pressure saw the ball cleared to Murison on the edge of the box who fired in an unstoppable shot into the roof of the net and with the game coming to a close the last chance fell to Cran whose shot was well saved but Adu was there to knock in the loose ball and give a Dyce a 15-0 win. With a result like this it is the forwards that get most of the praise but with Smith, Rennie, Horne, Grant and Soutar all playing their part in defence it gave Alexander a quiet morning in the Dyce goal.
