On a cold damp day Dyce BC were back to fielding a full strength team for this match. Cove matched Dyce in the early stages for possession and effort with both teams having chances to score at either end.

 

After 10 minutes Ben played a ball from defence to Ryan who took the ball forward and had a shot at goal, this was saved by the keeper but he couldn`t hold it and fortunately Calum was close by to put the ball into the net.

 

For the next few minutes play was mostly in the midfield until Dyce broke through again with a shot from Ryan, although it was well saved by the Cove keeper Kieran showed good ability to follow the shot in net the rebound.

 

Near to the end of the 1^st period Dyce won the ball in midfield through Liam, he made a great pass between 2 defenders to Ryan who was able to beat the oncoming keeper to the ball and put Dyce 3 up.

Early in the second period Dyce started brightly through Angus who made a good run down the right wing and fired in a shot which was well held by the Cove keeper.

 

Dyce kept up the pressure this time with a good shot from Bradley then by another shot from Angus, again the Cove keeper saved it but Matthew followed in for a rare goal from his (right, yes right foot !!). Dyce were playing some good football now and went 5 up when a good cross in from Liam was met by Angus and slotted into the net.

 

The next Dyce goal saw a great move down the right from Bradley before passing to Ryan who fired in a great shot to leave the keeper with no chance.

 

By now Dyce were playing a good passing game and still able to concentrate on the basics despite the conditions which by now were getting really cold and damp. Dyce went a further goal ahead through a move down the middle by Ryan who decided he was going to go for it himself by taking on 2 defenders before slotting the ball past the keeper.

 

It is possibly the cold weather was getting to the Cove team by now since their heads seemed to go down, Dyce got their final goal just before the end of this period through a slick move down the left side with Bradley controlling the ball well before passing to Angus who took a shot which hit off the inside of the post to beat the keeper.

The Cove coaches were asked by some of their parents to consider finishing the game rather than play the final period due to the weather, this was agreed to since both teams had given a good effort in really cold conditions.

A really good effort in difficult conditions from all the boys.
