Cove BC  2 - 7   Dyce Boys Club

Sunday 24th February  2008

Cove

On a bright but windy day both teams looked forward to a game after the recent cancellations. Dyce BC had Nathan Fletcher in goal this week and were able to send out a full strength team.

After a few minutes of stalemate Dyce made the breakthrough after 10

minutes when the ball was played down the right hand side fell to Bradley who passed inside to Calum who fired the ball in towards the goal, after taking a couple of bounces the unlucky keeper allowed the ball to slip through his hands into the net.

2 minutes later Liam played a great 1 -2 with Bradley before firing in a shot which clipped the post.

Just before the end Dyce kept the pressure up when a free kick saw the ball defended well by Cove but forced back towards goal from a move between Ryan and Bradley which ended up with the ball clipping the crossbar.

As the 1st period came to an end a late shot from Calum was well saved by the Cove keeper onto the crossbar .

1st period – Cove BC 0 V Dyce BC 1

2 minutes into the 2nd period a good move involved Kieran playing the ball out wide to Liam who took on a player beating him before he slotted the shot low into the right corner of the net.

The next move came from some good play from defence by the Dyce boys, Ben took control of the ball and played a cross field pass to Bradley who passed to Kieran whose shot hit off the crossbar and was eventually cleared for a throw in to Dyce.

A quality Ben Soutar throw in ended up with the ball falling to Liam who shot the ball past the keeper into the net.

After some strong play from Dyce Ben took another throw in which came to Bradley, he played a cross in where Kieran headed the ball down to Bradley who fired the ball into the net.

2nd period Cove BC 0 V Dyce BC 4

The last period saw Dyce start off by keeping the pressure on Cove, the next  shot started from the defence where Angus played the ball out to Kieran, he decided to take on the Cove players on the wing and was faced in a one on one with the keeper, unfortunately his shot just missed the right hand post.

The next chance for Dyce came from a free kick, taken by Kieran it was well struck and after clearing the wall brilliantly saved by the Cove keeper who tipped the shot onto the bar.

Just before the end of this period a great tussle in defence between one of Cove`s best players, `Cassie` and Dylan from Dyce saw Dylan`s shot hit the side netting.

The next goal for Dyce came from the back when Nathan played the ball out to the right, a cross came in but the Cove defender missed the ball when it fell to Kieran he made no mistake and put the ball in the net.

The next goal for Dyce was unfortunate for the Cove keeper, Calum took a corner from the left side but as the keeper tried to gather it up it slipped past him and into the net.

To their credit Cove never gave up and started to do their best to get a goal back.  A good move saw the ball end up with Cassie who fired in a point blank shot which Nathan saved brilliantly onto the crossbar. A great effort by both players.

Then it was the turn of Dyce, with Dylan forcing the Cove keeper to make a great save and put it out for a corner.

Another throw in from the right side by Ben to Dylan saw his shot fired in and saved by the keeper, fortunately Matthew followed in to make sure the ball ended up in the net.

At this point the Cove team were encouraged to put on their extra player, this gave them a bit more heart and play some good football late on scoring 2 late goals.

Overall a good display from the boys who got their passing game going and thought about what they were doing the majority of the time. Well done to both teams though.
