Under 10s  -  Match Report

Dyce  BC FC  2 - 1  Sheddocksley BC

Sunday 25th November  2007

Webster Park

On a cold day Dyce BC fielded an almost full strength team for this match. Dyce expected Sheddocksley to be up for the game and that is exactly how it started with the away team showing their determination to match Dyce. And our defence of Matthew and Ben working hard to keep them out.

Dyce showed they could play some good passing football though and after the first period the score was even.

1st period Dyce BC 0 Sheddocksley 0

The second period saw Dyce start to get the upper hand, stringing some good passes together with some good movement down the left side Dyce won a corner. Liam took it and it fell to Bradley whose shot on target was well saved by the keeper.

Dyce kept up the pressure and were rewarded when the ball was directed into the away goal area, luckily Dylan was on hand to follow the move up and put the ball past the keeper to give Dyce the lead.

2nd period Dyce BC 1 Sheddocksley 0

The final period saw Sheddocksley come right back at Dyce creating some good moves from midfield. Our stand in and `stand out` goalie, Kieran dealt with some really difficult balls into the Dyce box which others may not have done so well with.

However after some continued pressure the away team got a goal to make the scores level and the closing minutes exciting for the spectators.

Dyce tried to create with some good passing play but in the final third appeared to try and walk the ball into the net at times when a pass or early shot may have been better. To be fair Bradley did have a few shots but for a change they were a bit wide of the target, it just wasn`t his day.

As the game neared the end Dyce made a good move down the left side and a brilliant combination of one/two`s between Dylan and Ryan left Ryan with space to close in on goal and have a shot, the shot ended up going across the goal where Calum slid in to try and put the ball into the net. The result was it came off the post and stopped about 1 foot out, with Calum on the ground and Sheddocksley goalie and defence scrambling to get to the ball Calum hooked his left leg round to push the ball into the net.

Just before the game finished Sheddocksley had a chance to level at the other end but credit to our defence who held out well..

Final score    -   Dyce BC 2      Sheddocksley 1

A good effort against a hard working team who were skilful and physical in their approach. Remembering to look for options in the last third needs to be taken on board for the next game, given the chances we created there could and should have been more goals for Dyce.  Thanks to one spectator, the injured Angus Burrows who came along to support his team mates.
