Dyce BC 7 - 4 Sheddocksley Sunday 27th January, 2008 Webster Park |
|
On a
mild January day The game
started at a good pace with all players keen to get back to playing
football again, in the first minute Dyce made the most of the early
possession from the back when Ben passed the ball forward to Calum who
controlled the ball played it to Ryan who returned the ball, Calum then
moved forward before sending in a great cross to the penalty area which
was headed off the crossbar by a defender trying to clear the danger.
Fortunately Bradley was on hand to take the rebound and put Dyce ahead. The next
period of play saw Dyce keep most of the possession and fire in several
shots, however Sheddocksley also had 2 good chances but fortunately Ross
made 2 good decisions by coming out from his goal area early and make
decisive clearances preventing
Sheddocksley getting a real chance to score. After 7
minutes some persistent play from Dyce saw the ball fired in from the
right by Ryan to Calum who then passed to his left where Liam was waiting
to tap the ball into the net past the keeper. The game
continued at a good pace with Dyce probably getting the majority of the
ball, the next goal came from a good clearance from defence. Ross threw
the ball to Matthew who decided he was going to take it down field as far
as he could beating a couple of players on the way before he passed inside
to Liam who cut the ball inside to Bradley whose first time shot screamed
high into the net. No
sooner had play re-started when Dyce created another good chance, Ben
played the ball out to Ryan, he slipped past the defence before taking a
good shot, only to be denied by a great save by the keeper. 1st
period Play
started in the 2nd period with Dyce getting hold of the ball on
the right side of the field, where Dylan made a cross field pass to Liam
who shot first time across the goal and into the net. A good
start but Sheddocksley made sure they were not going to give in easily and
came straight back at Dyce with a good move through midfield finished by
their striker who slid the ball under the Dyce keeper. The next
few minutes saw both teams have their chances but Dyce were the next team
to take advantage when corner from Liam was sent into the box, some good
work by Dylan at the back post led to him playing the ball out to Bradley
who was in a great position to strike the ball early with his left foot
and send the ball high into the net. Sheddocksley
hit back a couple of minutes later when they won the ball as it was being
played out by the Dyce defence, they played the ball forward and across
the goal where a Sheddocksley player was on hand to tap the ball in at the
post. 2nd
period The
third and final period got off to a great start for Dyce when after 2
minutes a ball from defence was played out to Calum who took the
opportunity to pass the ball to Kieran who had found some space in the
middle Kieran saw Matthew on his left near to the back post and made a
great square pass to him, Matthew then calmly placed the ball into the
net. Dyce
started to create a number of chances over the next few minutes but
couldn`t score with them, they were punished for this when Sheddocksley
chased a ball down in midfield then drove forward to score against the run
of play. Dyce
came right back with a great shot from Angus which the keeper couldn`t
hold and ended up out for a corner. The next
phase of play saw Sheddocksley go up field and score with a great shot
from distance. As time
was running out Dyce managed to win a corner which was taken by Calum who
drove the ball in low to Ryan, he controlled the ball and laid it off to
Bradley who fired in a shot past the stranded keeper. At the
very end a shot from distance by Calum was going into the top right corner
of the net until it was brilliantly saved by the keeper and put out for a
corner. Overall
a good competitive game but Dyce seemed to lose concentration near the end
allowing the opposition right back into the game with 2 quick
goals. Sheddocksley to their credit worked well throughout the game and
displayed the right approach by never giving up. Well
done to both sets of players Final
