Dyce BC  7 - 0   Ellon Meadows

Sunday 27th April 2008

Webster Park

On a lovely bright day both teams relished the chance to play football in some decent weather .Dyce BC had Nathan Fletcher in goal this week and were able to send out a full strength team.

After a few minutes it appeared Ellon were going to make a good game of this match, they looked determined but it was Dyce who made the early breakthrough which involved a move down the right with the ball the ball fell to Liam who managed to `flick` it past the keeper.

Dylan was not feeling well by this point and had gone off the pitch hopeful of returning after a rest.

The remainder of the first period saw a lot of play in the midfield but with Dyce asserting themselves and making more of the chances they had, with shots

from Angus, Ryan and Liam well defended.

1st period – Dyce BC 1 V Ellon Meadows 0

Not long after the start Dyce continued as they ended the first period, this time it was a good shot from Bradley which narrowly went over the cross bar. A couple more chances fell in quick succession, Calum played the ball in from the right but it was just missed by Liam as he stretched to connect with it followed by a cross come shot from Angus which was well taken by the keeper.

The next goal came from Dyce with a great move from the back, Ben played the ball out of defence to Angus who then crossed to the back post where Ryan was well placed to put the ball into the net`

Dyce continued playing some better football in this period showing they can move from defence to attack with the defenders not scared to have a go. This time a slick move down the left saw Angus lay the ball off to the centre where Ben steadied himself for a shot which went just wide of the post.

By this stage Matthew and Ben were keen to get up the field and attack the Ellon goal showing great awareness to support where required but they also made sure the defence was covered when needed.

From the last goal the provider turned scorer in the next move when Angus received the ball in the midfield, took it forward then unleashed a shot which beat the keeper.

It would be fair to say though the Ellon keeper was playing well and had it not been for him and some good defending Dyce may have been further in the lead. An example was a 30 second period when shots from Bradley, Angus and Ryan were either saved or defended, great work by the Ellon players.

Not long after this the next Dyce goal came, another move down the right side saw Angus and Calum link well together before Angus took on and beat a defender he then crossed the ball into the box where Ryan was well placed to score from close range.

Ellon had the next chance though, after a clearance from defence they shot towards the Dyce goal but Nathan was well placed to make a comfortable save.

The last goal of this period came for Dyce after a long clearance from the Ellon defence the bal fell to Kieran who was now playing in defence, he decided to take a shot from distance but this was helped by the Ellon defender who thought he would dummy the ball and leave it to his keeper, only problem was his keeper wasn`t thinking that way and the ball ended up in the net.

2nd period Dyce BC 5 Ellon Meadows 0

With Dylan back on the pitch again the last period saw Dyce determined to add to the score, not long after the re-start a great move between Dylan and Bradley ended up with a cross ball from Bradley into the Ellon goalmouth where Ryan was sharp enough to pounce and score from close range again.

Just before the end of this period a ball out to the right was controlled by Calum before he sent in a cross where Dylan kept his nerve, controlled the ball well and placed it past the keeper.

A slow start but well done for working hard and playing as a team right to the end
