Dyce Boys Club 5 - 3 Glentanar Sunday 28th October 2007 Webster Park
Calum Wilson stepped up from the 9s to
play in goals for the 10s today as they were short of players
due to school holidays. The game kicked off on a fine
sunny morning and Glentanar scored two minutes into the first half
with a good break down the right hand side and a fine shot which
beat Calum and hit the back of the net. Dyce
responded with an attack down the left by Matthew Dick but his cross
just eluded Bradley Neish. Good work by Bruce Anderson down
the right hand side saw Matthew Dick got on the end of Bruce's
cross to level the scores.
The game was now end-to-end with
both teams playing well. Dyce again broke down the right
with Glenn Murison releasing Bruce Anderson but his shot was saved
for a corner. Slack defending in the box by the Dyce
defence saw the ball break to the Glentanar striker and although Calum
Wilson got his fingertips to the ball he was unable to prevent a
goal. Dyce were pressing to get the equaliser and after
constant pressure it paid off. A great passing move
started by Liam Strachan in defence saw the ball passed to
Glenn Murison and then to Bruce Anderson then to Matthew Dick and
Bradley Neish latched on to the final through ball from Matthew and
rifled a great left foot shot which bulged the net.
Glentanar applied some pressure but
Dylan Smith and Liam Strachan ensured Calum Wilson was
untroubled. Bruce Anderson thought he was David Beckham when
he tried to score with a looping shot which cleared the crossbar
with plenty to spare!!!!!!!!!! Dyce won a corner after a melee
in the Glentanar box but it came to nothing. A brilliant
last gasp challenge by Liam Strachan saw a certain goal averted and
the defence cleared. Glentanar were pressing hard
but were kept at bay by solid defending by Liam Strachan and Dylan
Smith. Right at the end of the first half, a fierce shot from
Glentanar was saved by Calum Wilson diving to his right.
Both teams went off to a round of
applause from both sets of supporters and a well earned half time
drink.
Half Time: 2 - 2
Dyce kicked off the second half on all
out attack with shots by Matthew Dick, Bruce Anderson and Bradley
Neish bringing outstanding saves from the Glentanar keeper but
no goals. Glentanar were hitting on the break and went ahead
when their striker was left with just the keeper to beat and he made
no mistake. Dyce pressed forward and won three corners on the
trot but they were unable to beat the Glentanar keeper who was
saving everything that was thrown at him. Another great save
from Matthew Dick resulted in a corner for Dyce - from the corner
the ball fell to Bruce Anderson who this time beat the keeper with a
fierce low drive.
Winning a strong challenge in midfield,
Glenn Murison played Bruce Anderson down the right hand side.
Bruce's cross was met on the volley by Bradley Neish and went flying
into net giving the keeper no chance to save. The
momentum was now with Dyce and Matthew Dick crossed from the left to
Bruce Anderson in the middle and he rifled a screamer into the top
corner of the net for goal number 5. Minutes later a
great tackle by Dylan Smith stopped a dangerous Glentanar attack.
Glenn Murison turned his marker in midfield and released Bradley
Neish but once again the Glentanar keeper brought off a wonder save
from Bradley's strike. Liam Strachan intercepted a
through ball and released Bradley Neish but he didn't strike the
ball cleanly and it was cleared.
Good pressure by Dyce saw Glenn Murison
left with just a tap-in but once again the Glentanar keeper came to
the rescue and saved. Seconds before the final
whistle Calum Wilson came off his line and pulled off a superb save
to stop a breakaway Glentanar attack.

We could probably have
scored more goals today if
we hadn't found the
Glentanar keeper in inspired form.
All the boys played well
today and didn't tire even although
they had to play the whole
game as we had no subs.
