Dyce BC 7 - 1 Stoneywood Utd Sunday 30th October 2005 Pitmedden Road
Aaron
West misses today's game through injury. We played 2 thirty minute
periods today and in the first fifteen minutes the game was very
even with neither side able to dominate play as they both found it
difficult coming to terms with the blustery, windy conditions.
A
defence splitting pass by Robbie Collinson saw Ryan Gordon's
goalbound effort cleared off the line. Robbie Collinson went on a
good run down the left and cut inside to shoot for goals and
although his first shot was blocked he managed to knock the rebound
through to Ryan Gordon in space who scored from close in. Soon
afterwards, Nicol Christie hit a twenty-five yard rocket which he
rebounded off the bar and while everyone was admiring the shot,
Gareth Ledingham was first to the rebound to shoot home.
Ryan
Gordon played Nicol Christie through on goals and just as he was
about to pull the trigger a Stoneywood defender made a last gasp
tackle to see the ball end up for a corner kick to Dyce which came
to nothing. Good football from the back through midfield saw Nicol
Christie's cross-cum-shot deceive everyone but hit the bar and
rebound to safety. With only minutes of the half left Dyce were
caught pushing forward and when Stoneywood won the ball in midfield
they broke quickly to score giving Paul Noble, in goals, no
chance. Stoneywood had their tails up now and were pushing forward
and when their central midfield player shot from twenty yards the
ball went narrowly over the bar.
Half
time: 2 - 1
Early
in the second half, Nicol Christie won an important challenge in
midfield and seeing Ryan Gordon unmarked, played a lovely ball
through for Ryan to put Dyce into a 3 - 1 lead. When a through
ball by Blair Gilligan was only half cleared, Nicol Christie fired
home a rocket from twenty yards which flew into the top right hand
corner of the Stoneywood net.
When a
free kick was played in from the left, Ryan Aitken headed for goals
only to see the Stoneywood keeper bring off a fine save. Great
one touch football saw the ball played from Calum Wilson at the back
to Nicol Christie and then out wide to Ryan Aitken whose cross was
met at the near post by Craig MacAskill who scored from a narrow
angle. Picking up a throw in on the left hand side, Robbie
Collinson beat his marker only to see his shot beat the goalkeeper
but come flying back into play off the crossbar.
In an
identical move minutes later, Robbie Collinson picked up a throw in
but his fierce shot was parried by the goalkeeper and Gareth
Ledingham reacted first to hit the back of the net. A good
passing move involving Ryan Aitken, Gareth Ledingham and Craig
MacAskill saw Craig cut the ball back for Robbie Collinson who fired
in a great shot only to see the goalkeeper turn the ball past the
post for a corner.
Craig
MacAskill played the ball out wide to Gareth Ledingham who beat two
defenders on a great run up the right hand side and he crossed for
Ryan Aitken to have the easiest of chances to tap in goal number
seven. Ryan Aitken then had a shot well saved by the Stoneywood
keeper who palmed his effort on to the post where it was cleared to
safety. Stoneywood were still battling and refused to give up and
Byron Stirton, now playing in goals saved well from a long rage
Stoneywood effort.
Full
time: 7 - 1
Report by: Eric Mannall
Credit must go to both teams
who once they got to grips
with the blustery conditions
tried to play passing football.
Dyce were worthy
winners today but had to work hard against an
enthusiastic Stoneywood
team who battled to the end.
