Glentanar BC 1 - 8 Dyce BC Sunday 30th September 2007 Woodside Sports Complex
Dyce kicked off the first of three twenty
minute periods and the ball was played to Gavin Ritchie on the
right who sent a pinpoint pass through to Kieran Mearns who drove in
on goals and beat the goalkeeper to see Dyce lead 1 - 0 with only
seconds on the clock. Craig Gill intercepted a pass in his
own half, drove forward and fired in a 25 yard shot that stung the
keeper's hands and Kieran Mearns was unlucky when he re-acted first to
the keeper's parry but his shot went narrowly past the post.
Ewen McGregor went on a great run down the
left and the ball was eventually cleared for a corner.
From the corner, Cory Ritchie was unlucky when his goalbound shot was
well saved. Ewen McGregor fired in a corner and
Cameron Duncan beat the goalkeeper but the ball rebounded into play
off the post. Latching on to a kickout from the Glentanar
goalkeeper, Kieran Mearns beat a couple of defenders before slotting
home.
First Period: 0 - 2
Dyce scored early in the second period
when Gavin Ritchie picked up a pass from Euan Johnston and
powered his way forward to fire in one of his trade mark rocket shots
which the keeper was unable to stop. Most of the next ten
minutes were played in midfield with neither side able to dominate and
few chances being created. Glentanar pulled a goal back
when they picked up a clearance and drove in and scored giving Calum
Wilson in goals no chance.
From a throw in on the right, Cameron
Duncan showed great skill, beating two Glentanar players in the box
before firing a left foot shot narrowly past. Craig Gill
won a strong challenge at the back, drove down the right hand side and
fired in a great cross. Ross Craigen in the box showed
great control before turning and firing Dyce into a 4 - 1 lead.
Second Period: 1 - 4
Dyce were under pressure in the early part
of the third period but Alex Hampton and Craig Gill held firm at the
back. Alex Hampton played a long ball over the top and
Gavin Ritchie outpaced the Glentanar defence and fired home from 15
yards. A good one-two down the right hand side between
Reigan Thomson and Gavin Ritchie saw Gavin's powerful shot well saved
by the Glentanar keeper. Next to try his luck was Craig
Gill whose snap-shot came back into play off the keeper's legs and was
eventually cleared.
A good passing move involving Gavin
Ritchie, Kieran Mearns and Cory Ritchie saw the ball cleared for a
corner which came to nothing. From a clearance, Kieran
Mearns showed great control and awareness - seeing the goalkeeper
off his line he chipped the ball over the keeper's head into the
net for his hat-trick. Gavin Ritchie beat a
couple of players on the right hand side, crossed and Euan
Johnston stole in at the far post to score from close in with his RIGHT
foot!!!!!!!!
Cory Ritchie showed great strength and
control when he powered his way past a couple of defenders before
driving the ball past the keeper to see the game finish 8 - 1.
Final Score: 1 - 8
The boys showed great battling
qualities and played some good
football today against a good
Glentanar side.
